The Radio Cart
Graduation project by Zoé Bruhat at Design Academy Eindhoven, 2026. Shown during Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven on Design Map, location F5.
While taking part in Design Academy Eindhoven’s student-led Elevator Radio, Zoé Bruhat discovered how broadcasting outside the studio could spark conversations with new audiences. Visiting community radio stations across Europe, she found that each had its own identity, yet bringing that identity into public space remained a challenge. Most radio stations never tried. For others, equipment was often transported in improvised boxes and tangled cables, making it difficult to create a recognisable presence beyond the studio. ‘The Radio Cart’ responds with a mobile broadcasting station that combines a DJ booth, discussion table and equipment trolley. Drawers, shelves and pegboards keep equipment organised, while an open-source parametric system allows each station to adapt the cart to the size of its own equipment. Presented as a fully functioning broadcasting station, the project gives community radio a mobile home, enabling stations to bring their equipment, identity and love of broadcasting wherever they go.
