Ladder

By reimagining the familiar form of a ladder, Yuval Melech explores how everyday objects can take on new spatial roles. Instead of serving as something to climb, the ladder becomes a modular lighting system that directs light, shapes movement and organises space.
Integrated light sources within selected rungs allow the orientation of the structure to determine how light is cast, creating soft partitions, framing areas or guiding circulation. In doing so, the project challenges the conventional understanding of lighting as a standalone object. It becomes an architectural element that actively influences the experience of a room. Constructed from slim metal components, 'Ladder' combines structural clarity with adaptability. Its precise and familiar presence can be configured to respond to different spaces.
