The Sustainable Therapist

Vince - Manon Vincent

Bachelor

Graduation project by Vince - Manon Vincent at Design Academy Eindhoven, 2026. Shown during Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven on Design Map, location F5.

The Sustainable Therapist', an oversized, soft-limbed character, greets its patients with big ears and welcoming hands. Visitors are invited to sit down and receive a hug. This interactive installation examines the paradox of the caring consumer: the mental parkour required to transform unsustainable decisions into justifiable choices within a system built on consumerist temptation. Woven on a jacquard loom in collaboration with the Tilburg Textile Museum, the piece offers tactile warmth and embracing comfort. This soft body doesn’t judge or argue. Rather, ‘The Sustainable Therapist’ invites people to deconstruct their consumer biases, reassembling them through intimate reflection. Drawing on the idea that personifying objects deepens our care for them, Manon Vincent uses humour and softness to make a subject as complex as sustainability more approachable. Under this embrace, one is quietly asked: what are you willing to give up to implement sustainable habits?
