Glass is full of contradictions: it possesses great strength yet looks fragile, and it comes alive as light and shadow dance across its surface. With ‘Apriora’, Tereza Hubová explores these qualities, as well as the structural and kinetic potential of glass, through large-scale mobiles that engage with light, movement and strength. The pieces invite viewers to wonder how they are made, how they achieve their strength, and how the interplay of light and motion activates the material and continually transforms the compositions in space. Inspired by natural growth patterns and architectural structures, the project examines repetition and balance while allowing air, gravity and sunlight to shape our experience. Made of clear borosilicate glass, the works combine technical experimentation with ongoing material research. ‘Apriora’ demonstrates how understanding the innate qualities of glass opens up new possibilities to surpass the material's perceived limitations.
