Digital Hoarder
Graduation project by Stella Boué Chalom at Design Academy Eindhoven, 2026. Shown during Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven on Design Map, location F5.
What remains when the physical traces of a life are gone? 'Digital Hoarder' is a speculative research project which asks how hoarding as proof of existence translates to the digital world. While in physical spaces, accumulation is clearly visible and finite, it continues online without bounds, as photographs, emails, memes, documents and recipe videos pile up within digital spaces. 'Digital Hoarder' presents a cinematic multimedia installation, which reflects on an important moment in the life of Stella Boué's family. After selling their family home of over twenty years, the designer’s mother is faced with the decision of what to keep and what to leave behind. Objects, each tied to a memory, are packed or discarded. The designer documents the house as it is emptied and projects footage of the family's lives onto moving boxes and walls, creating a cinematic space in which to grieve the loss of the home.
