Glitch
Graduation project by Roberta Quirch at Design Academy Eindhoven, 2026. Shown during Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven on Design Map, location F5.
A t-shirt, a hoodie: ordinary garments in most wardrobes. What if these clothes weren't neutral at all? Growing up where fitting in felt mandatory, Roberta Quirch found subcultures and discovered how deeply identity can be shaped by what we wear. Where wardrobe rebellion may be easy to spot, quiet conformity can go routinely unnoticed. That realisation turned towards everyday garments. ‘Glitch’ treats familiar staples as a system of behaviour rather than mere fabric, deconstructing them to expose the codes built into them. Alterations in texture, volume and form disrupt the garment just enough to break its script. The work results in a calculated pause from uniformity, a moment of friction inserted into daily dressing. Conventional habits shape how much space we can take up and how we move through the world. ‘Glitch’ interrupts that automatism, offering a wardrobe for anyone who refuses to blend in.
