I See You Fallen Eye
Graduation project by Mathis Perrot at Design Academy Eindhoven, 2026. Shown during Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven on Design Map, location F5.
Delivered home in a wooden box, ‘I See You Fallen Eye’ offers a ritual to help people process the suffering caused by a difficult encounter, life event or experience. Guided by a printed booklet, the ritual unfolds through three stages: making, breaking and remembering. It begins with the selection of a unique ceramic urn from a collection displayed online. Placing the urn in the home creates a grounding space where the emotional weight of an experience can be held with care. Writing about the experience and placing the paper inside allows the urn to embody it, while a thin clay shell is formed on top of the urn to give shape to the discomfort surrounding the memory. Over time, the clay shell is slowly broken apart using a small hammer. Each fragment is placed inside the urn until the final piece marks the point at which suffering no longer dominates the memory. The urn remains as a quiet reminder that difficult experiences can be honoured and carried forward without preventing growth.
