Facing Characters
Graduation project by Jette Roelofs at Design Academy Eindhoven, 2026. Shown during Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven on Design Map, location F5.
What if the thing that frustrates someone most about themselves is also what makes them good at what they do? Jette Roelofs explores that question through a hands-on workshop that helps participants recognise the connections between their strengths, pitfalls and challenges. Drawing on the Core Quadrant model by management coach Daniel Ofman, it turns self-reflection into a creative, physical experience.
During the workshop, participants create two puppets that represent different sides of their personal quality spectrum. By giving these characters a face, a name and a presence, they make abstract thoughts tangible and easier to understand.
In ‘Facing Characters’, uncomfortable self-observations become figures that can be moved and reimagined. The workshop invites anyone interested in personal growth to explore their qualities through making, with no previous creative experience required.
