Coron V.2
Graduation project by Flora Moneka Goulidei at Design Academy Eindhoven, 2026. Shown during Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven on Design Map, location F5.
‘Coron V.2’ is an installation situated between the Northern French coron living room and the automotive workshop. Corons were workers’ houses built for coal miners, where domestic life and manual labour coexisted. After the mines closed, many former miners became mechanics, turning the garage into a continuation of this working-class culture. Investigating what designer Flora Moneka Goulidei describes as a “second industrial loss”, the project asks what happens when digitalisation and automation erode not only repair practices, but the embodied knowledge once passed between generations. Through reclaimed furniture, custom-built objects, 3D-printed bas-reliefs and visitor participation, the installation explores how design might preserve and transmit these disappearing forms of mechanical expertise.
