Graduation project by Ella Feldner-Busztin at Design Academy Eindhoven, 2026. Shown during Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven on Design Map, location F5.
Ella Feldner-Busztin sustained a traumatic brain injury from being hit by a car while crossing the road, an event which fundamentally changed her experience of time. This became the starting point for an installation of 60 slip-cast ceramic cups, reflecting the way we measure time. Arranged in a single line to form a stop-frame animation of a running figure, each cup represents a single moment within a timeline, while a projected animation above returns the sequence to motion. Within the arrangement, a single blank cup interrupts the sequence, with a distorted form marking the moment a timeline ruptures. The cups that follow gradually change, suggesting that although time can continue after an interruption, it is never quite the same. The installation encourages a pause, inviting reflection on the fragility of time and how we choose to inhabit the moments that compose our lives. After all, in a split second, a timeline can change forever.
