No Climate Commitment Built Here Stands
Graduation project by Diana Yukari at Design Academy Eindhoven, 2026. Shown during Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven on Design Map, location F5.
‘No Climate Commitment Built Here Stands’ explores how government commitments to address climate change are weakened as they become policy. The installation centres on a steel structure where visitors type a climate demand into a computer. It is progressively rewritten by AI into policy language: obligations become recommendations, deadlines disappear, and conditions accumulate. Comparative research into international climate policy reveals that these transformations are not isolated editorial decisions but recurring strategies through which political commitments are watered down, reducing the accountability of those in power. By turning policy language into an interactive experience, the installation shows how power operates through seemingly minor changes in wording, making visible a process that usually remains hidden behind closed doors and within official documents.
